Long back in 1983, after passing from school, I got admission in SGSITS, one of the most reputed Engineering colleges of the state at that time. Architecture was not even the choice, thoughts and the dreams of those times. The rule in those times was to get admission in Engineering if you have taken Maths or Medical if you have taken biology. Architecture, Polytechnic and Dental were considered for students, who were not good enough for Engineering and Medical. …time has really changed!! After graduation in Civil Engineering with Hons., to fulfill the dreams of my parents, to become a Collector, I went to Delhi for learning Civil services. As destiny would have it, just before exams, I had a severe viral fever, and I could not study in the last two months, and could not pass the exams. Meanwhile, School of planning and Architecture (SPA, Delhi) had an advertisement for post graduation, which I applied, thinking that I will simultaneously prepare for UPSC exams.
